Collective—the Art of Craft

Collective—the Art of Craft is a 14-member artisan owned and cooperatively run gallery housed in a distinctive historic building in Woodstock, nestled in the very heart of Vermont. What was once an old flax seed mill making linseed oil is now a showcase for some of the best fine traditional and contemporary craft offered with in the state of Vermont.

It was founded in 2006 by Marcia Hammond and a group of very committed visionary artisans willing to take a risk! After 10 years most are still the original members.

The mission of this gallery is to showcase some of the best fine craft in the state of Vermont while affording new and upcoming artisans a venue to start their careers as well. To that end we host a Guest Artist Program with a rotating roster of artisans, keeping the gallery fresh for both locals and tourists.

Work includes glass, pottery, wearable fiber art, jewelry, photographic prints, wood, hand wrought metal, exquisite handmade lamps and whimsical up cycled products as well.

Collective—the Art of Craft is entirely run by the members and every day a different artisan tends the store making it a creative interaction for both the customer as well as the artists.
